The word Balearic, if it belongs anyway, can be mostly attributed to Amnesia. The sounds that Alfredo Fiorito started to mix together in the late 80’s in the farmhouse’s open air terrace as the first surge of Ecstasy hit the Mediterranean, was so defined, and has continued to influence more than one generation of party animals.
There might not be much physical resemblance to the old venue nowadays, and the music of Cocoon, Cream, Armada and Manumission couldn’t be further afield, but the feeling that you get on that self same terrace as the sun creeps up through the shade of the leafy trees owes everything to that original spirit.
There’s nowhere like this club in the world, as a 2 year running IDMA award for Best Club demonstrates.
